Yachting Australia
is the governing body for sailing
and power boating in Australia
and has significant responsibilities
in the areas of training and safety
standards. Yachting Australia
sets standards through its state
based member yachting associations.
ie Yachting Queensland.
The Yachting
Australia training program is
at this point in time valid recreationally.
That is, they are not at this
time recognised by the state based
authorities responsible for commercial
qualifications, ie Marine Safety
Queensland.
The national yacht cruising scheme
is intended to assist those who
wish to sail cruising and racing
yachts recreationally:-
" To obtain the necessary
skill to do so safely and enjoyably
" To encourage continued
high standards of safety, and
" To encouraging a responsible
attitude to standards of competence
and ability.
That is, the courses assist people
to undertake the sport safely
and with confidence.

"Can I transfer my RYA Qualifications
to Yachting Australia Certificates?
A.
Yes, The Royal Yachting
Association in the UK and Yachting
Australia each recognise the other''s
certificates. There are, however,
additional briefings and testing
required by both in order to cover
local regulations and requirements.
Depending on the qualification
you wish to transfer, there may
also be additional requirements
to be met.
