THE WHITSUNDAY MARINE ACADEMY

Instructor Courses

Once you have achieved either the Inshore Skippers Certificate or the Offshore Skippers Certificate and you can apply through us to the State Branch of the AYF, the Queensland Yachting Association, for examination.

Candidates for the instructor endorsement should be at least 18 years of age, have at least 3 years experience and be nominated by an approved training centre.

As an instructor you can teach the AYF TL4 programme up to your level of achievement, ie inshore or offshore, within a Recognised Teaching Establishment, ie the Whitsunday Marine Academy.

These days the instructor examination has little or no course component. It is a two day examination to ensure you already have the skills, experience and competency to be an instructor.

If you are looking to learn how to be an instructor we recommend that you complete a Certificate 1V in Workplace Training and Assessment at your local TAFE college. This will give you the required skill to be a competent instructor.

Contact us fo find out more details on how to become an Australian Yachting Federation Instructor.
