This
is a fun practical
course to introduce
participants to the
overall running of
a yacht and it's parts,
with an appreciation
of safety and regulations.
The beginner will
be active in all areas
on the boat with attention
on how to use the
equipment during basic
manourvers.
Previous experience
required: None, this
course is suitable
for beginners.
We
have three styles
of Introductory Course: Cruising
and Learning
Conducted aboard one
of our Aussie Adventure
Sailing crewed overnight
sailing vessels such
as Eureka II using
modern sailing methods
and equipment. Usually
conducted on two day
or three day cruise
around the Whitsunday
Islands.
Learn to Sail
Conducted aboard one
of sail training vessels
such as Double O Seven
using modern sailing
methods and equipment.
Usually conducted
on a one day sail
out of Airlie Beach
or over three days
on a longer cruise
around the Whitsunday
Islands. Traditional
Conducted aboard Alexander
Stewart, Derwent
Hunter or Defender,
our fleet of traditional
Eco accredited Tallships.
These ships are representative
of a bygone ear of
sailing and you will
begin to learn to
sail using skills
now rare in this modern
age. All the fun of
"Heave Ho and
a bottle of Rum"
as the crew show you
the ropes and traditional
sailing skills.
