This
is the highest level
sailing course in
the Yachting Australia
programme and is for
Yachtmasters Offshore
Certificate Holders
who wish to develop
their Ocean crossing
capabilities and learn
the art of naviation
by sextant.
Our
academy principal
Mal Robertson
is a Yachtmaster
Ocean Instructor
and will lead
the course programme.
The ultimate
adventure training
option, involves
a passage from
Airlie Beach
to a distant
port, such as
Brisbane, Townsville
or Cairns, up
or down the
coast, and return.
These are not
a soft adventure.
Coastal passages
are a serious
adventure for
those looking
for a personal
challenge and
the opportunity
to test themselves
on one of our
offshore racing
yachts like
Sydney to Hobart
competitor Eureka
II. Participants
should be aware
that extreme
sea conditions
are possible
despite all
the best planning
and be confident
they are not
subject to chronic
sea sickness.
The next Yachtmaster Ocean courses will be held in December 2006. The courses will be conducted aboard the Ocean Racer Eureka II on the first course on the passage from Mackay to Coffs Harbour.
Other
coastal passages
are also held
on a regular
basis. Please
contact us for
details.
