Through the Whitsunday Marine Academy and Aussie Adventure Sailing you are able to gain valuable sea time whilst being a crew member on our crewed overnight sailing charters. You are also able to complete the course requirements for a Uniform Shipping Laws (USL) Coxswain ticket. In Australia all commercial Skippers are required to hold tickets issued by Maritime Safety Queensland.

During your 20 weeks you will complete your Yachting Australian, International Yachtmaster through the WMA as well as a Certificate II in Maritime Studies through the local Tafe Network. These will involve written and practical exams and after the 20 weeks you will have enough sea time, knowledge and experience to sit an oral examination with the Queensland Department of Transport for your Restricted Coxswains Ticket.

Please note that participants are paying to complete a course not receive a certificate. All persons who are deemed not yet competent will gain a statement of attendance. Those who are deemed to be competent will receive the Certificate applicable to that course.
