Learn
To Sail
|
 |
Learn
to sail courses are
conducted aboard one
of our specialised sail
training vessels on
a one day, 3 day or
6 day sailing cruise.
All courses start at
our base at the Abel
Point Marina in Airlie
Beach and following
an in-depth safety briefing
you will head out into
the tropical waters
of the Whitsunday Islands
and begin the course.
Each day will be a mix
of theory and practical
while sailing from one
island anchorage to
the next. There is no
better classroom for
learning to sail than
a yacht itself and when
it comes time to kick
back and relax our views
are spectacular.
The
unique features of our
learn to sail courses
include:
 |
The
adventure of sailing
the Whitsunday
Islands with nights
spent aboard the
vessel at secluded
island anchorages. |
 |
Personalised
service with an
Instructor to
student ratio
of a maximum of
1:6 |
 |
A
maximum
of 6 students
and only
students
with a focus
on learning
to sail |
 |

but still a very
manageable size

One of the unique benefits of our sailing school is that you can complete
either a Yachting Australia or International Yacht Training course or both
on one of the above cruises. If you elect to complete both courses there is
simply an additional fee for the duplicate books and costs.
Courses depart all year round and you only need to call us on 61 7 49402000
[8am to 8pm] or email us at wma@whitsunday.net.au to check availability.
* To work commercially within Queensland as a crew member you must complete
an Occupational Health and Safety at Sea course within your first 6 months
of employ. Similarly, the International crew certificate by itself is
designed to be recreational. Candidates seeking a career in Yachting
Internationally are also required to complete the STCW95 basic safety
training course [recognised by the International Maritime Organisation].
Please contact us for details of schedules and availability for these
courses. See also STCW 95.
** The Yachting Australia Yachtmaster Offshore Course is a recreational
course. If you wish to work commercially in Australia or internationally you
should review our Master 5 or IYT Master of Yachts Offshore information
pages.
